Robert Proulx

Robert Proulx is the President and founder of Xittel telecommunications and Xit telecom. He worked on different national and international projects of engineering for some well-known firms such as Hydro-Quebec, Hydro-Quebec Research Institute, ADS Associés Lavalin, Soprin Experts-Conseils, IMS Experts-conseils, Cogeco Cable.

Robert Proulx obtained a diploma in engineering from "École Polytechnique de Montréal" in 1977 and a master’s degree of McGill University in 1981. He took part of studies and the realization of private projects using fibre optics in more than 30 school boards in Quebec and more than 30 municipalities.

He also contributed to the development of the RISQ’s fibre optics network, which connects all Quebec universities and colleges together. RISQ is an organisation which belongs to Quebec universities, offering bandwidth to college and universities of this province. Outside Quebec, he also prepared many preliminary studies for various initiatives in 8 of the 10 Canadian provinces and also in Northern USA and Europe.

Mr. Proulx took part of the feasibility study of Pan Arab fibre optics network to connect universities of 8 countries in the Arabic area of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon.

He won the IWAY price of CANARIE in 2001 for his innovative contributions to the bandwidth technology progress. Mr Proulx also received the "Application d’une technologie" award for the development by Xit telecom of fibre optics private networks for the School Boards, Colleges, Universities and various governmental organisations of Canada.
